Camellia, one of the first flowers of spring

Playing the cello has been a passion for much of my life. I will detail my circuitous musical path in a future post. As time passes and new experiences unfold, additional interests and pursuits are born. They may ebb and flow, and that's okay. In 2020 I was deep into gardening, because what else could you do at the height of the pandemic? (I never got the hang of playing chamber music with myself, but I did log more Zoom lessons than I can count.) This past winter I wasn't excited about gardening anymore. But then spring came, and 20 plants later, I guess I do actually still like gardening!  Until recently, travel wasn't on my radar. But then I had the opportunity to go on an international tour with my orchestra. Since then, I can't get enough of travelling when I can, and thinking about where to go next.

When I was young, I used to enjoy writing. A wise friend of mine once said to me, it's important to remember the things you enjoyed doing as a child. So here, I'm giving myself space to write. Special interests can be long lasting, or they can be transitory. Either way, both music and other interests lend our lives depth and meaning. If you came here to look up a cellist, and leave here with more than you bargained for, then I hope you enjoy the experience along the way.
